Tired of the same old, same old? Try something a little adventurous, and surprise your special someone with an enchanting getaway to any of these five romantic boating resorts.

What pops into your mind when planning an outing with your significant other? A trip to the theater for the latest play or musical? Sure, it's a gift that most women will love, but it's also been done before. What about a dinner for two? Most people are aware that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, so you really can't go wrong with the meal route. But, the time has some to break free from the "same old, same old," and discover a more creative way to have fun with your special someone: a trip to a romantic boating resort.

For some, "boating" and "romantic vacation" might not seem a typical fit, but these five resorts make the two a natural combo. From amenity-packed marinas to picturesque waterways to spas and horseback riding, you can't beat these getaways. Whether you're in the mood to escape to the mountainous West Coast, the serene Midwest or the sunny skies of the Southeast, this selection of resorts will help you get started in planning your next trip.

Pleasure Point Inn
Santa Cruz, CA

Setting The Scene:
Overlooking Monterey Bay, the Pleasure Point Inn is located in a quiet, coastal neighborhood in California, where local surfers ride the waves from sunrise to sunset, and visitors sample local vintages at small, reputable wineries. Because of the intimate size of this inn, it's said that its guests get to truly experience life as a local.

Lovely Lodging:
The Pleasure Point Inn offers four guestrooms, all of which have a beach-themed name - the Sand Dollar room, the Pelican room, the Dolphin room and the Coral room. Room amenities include private entrances, patios and bathrooms, heated Jacuzzi tubs, gas fireplaces, custom-made furniture, down comforters, cable TV with DMX music channels, microwaves, coffee makers, refrigerators, telephone with free local calls, free bottled water and a welcome basket of goodies for your night of arrival.

Fine Dining:
There's something about an amazing view that makes a meal all the more better. At the Pleasure Point Inn, you can enjoy a nutritious breakfast every morning in the dining room, which overlooks Monterey Bay. For a breath of fresh air, you can opt to eat your meal outside on the rooftop deck. For a more private setting, you're welcome to bring your food back up to your room. Breakfast includes fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, breads, cereal, yogurt, orange juice, coffee, or tea.

Something Special:
Depending on your vacation schedule and your particular interests, the staff at the Pleasure Point Inn can easily arrange a kayak adventure for you with any of the quality kayak companies in the area. On this fun-filled pleasure ride, you and your significant other can relish in the beauty of Monterey Bay and enjoy a gorgeous sunset on the water.

At The Docks:
Although Pleasure Point Inn doesn't have an onsite marina, there's a nearby marina that's only a couple miles away. The Capitola Wharf (831/462-2208) offers mooring balls to which you can tie up your boat. Amenities include a boat launch, boat rentals, viewing deck, restrooms, bait and tackle shop, and a restaurant. Another marina that's accessible to guests of the Pleasure Point Inn is the Santa Cruz Harbor (831/475-6161). Open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., this full-service marina offers 1,000 slips. Services include guest berthing, a launch ramp, boat yard, fuel, bait and ice. Call each of the marinas for its particular rates and availability.

Romance Package:
The Coastal Escapes package includes a two-night stay in one of Pleasure Point Inn's four luxury guestrooms, a delicious expanded continental breakfast at the inn each morning, a one-hour massage for each person in the privacy of your room or on the sundeck with a panoramic view of Monterey Bay, and reservations for tours and tastings at two local wineries. For more information on rates and availability, call (831) 475-4657, or visit www.pleasurepointinn.com.
